Let’s give a big shout out to Macy, our DSD Dancer of the Week! Macy is such a friendly face whenever she walks into the studio, and always has kind and positive words to say to others. She works extremely hard and is always striving to improve. There are still many details to go and finishing touches to make, which we will keep working on.
I am beyond grateful for all of those who have worked so incredibly hard, fast, and diligently to ensure our space was ready to go by tomorrow. This includes my family, our contractors including Northfield Construction Company, many dance parents and teachers who came to help, as well as everyone in the community who walked by, stopped by, called and poked heads in to tell us how great the space looks. Thank you to all who have worked to make this possible!

💕Kindness💕
At DSD, our core values are what guide us in our day to day classes, activities, and performances. Kindness is our first core value and is instilled and reinforced each day in teamwork, building friendships, encouraging and helping each other, and cheering each other on. We often end class with high fives or hugs, and everyone finding a classmate to tell them they did awesome today! A little kindness goes a long way! 🙌🏻🤗💕
🌟New Teacher Spotlight🌟
We are thrilled to welcome Ze’Von Johnson to our teaching team at DSD this year! Coming to us from Arizona, he will bring his talent and passion for dance to our students at DSD and we couldn’t be more excited!
“I began dancing at the age of 13 at South Mountain Performing Arts in Phoenix, Arizona, under the direction of Michael Cook. I trained in various styles, including ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical. During my time at the school, I competed in several competitions such as Dupree, Adrenaline, Revive, NYCDA, and LADM. At my local high school, I assisted the dance teacher, choreographed routines, and helped clean dances. I plan to continue my education at St. Olaf College.”
🌟New Teacher Intro!🌟
We are so excited to welcome Hailey Barnes to our team this fall! She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our Acro program and you will see her face around DSD a lot! Let’s give Hailey a warm welcome!
I have grown up dancing at unlimited possibilities dance studio in Albert Lea, Minnesota. I danced there for 10 years as a competitive dancer. I did many different styles including musical theater, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, and ballet. My favorite style of dance is either jazz or hip hop. I also have been a gymnastics coach for 5 years at the Albert Lea gymnastics club. I was able to work with our competitive gymnasts and choreograph their floor routines for competitions. I am currently going to school to get my elementary education degree as well. I am very excited to continue my love for coaching here!

Did you know it wasn’t until the mid 1970’s that a woman could get a mortgage on her own? And not until 1988 that a woman could get a business loan without a male co-signer? Let’s hear it for the power of girls and women! Thankful to be where we are today. And hopefully you find a little humor in my good luck keychain ☺️
Let’s goooooooo DSD! 💖

Thank you to everyone for an amazing year, and looking ahead with a sense of anticipation of unending possibilities! 💜❤️🧡 Let’s go DSD!
🌟SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🌟
Aubrey, we are so very proud of you and your commitment and hard work in the studio all of these years! You have grown into such a beautiful, talented dancer, and we hope you never stop dancing. We will miss you incredibly but are excited to cheer you on in Arizona! 💕
I have been dancing for 15 years. I started dancing at DSD in 4th grade and started competing in 5th. Joining a competition team is what made me really love dance. I met people that I would not have had the chance to outside of the studio and have grown meaningful connections with all the girls (especially my past duet partner, Ella Cooney who is now my best friend!). Many of my favorite memories have been made with my competition team. One of my most favorite being my second year on Starlettes tap when we danced to September.
Thank you to all of my teammates and teachers, especially Emily, for pushing me all of these years. I’m going to miss everyone so much!💗
I will be attending the University of Arizona in the fall majoring in Fashion Merchandising. Good luck to all the dancers next year, I can’t wait to see you when I visit home!💙❤️
🌟SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🌟 We love you Kira!!! We are so proud of you!
I have been dancing for 12 years now, and 10 of them have been spent here at DSD! I have loved every single second that I have spent in the studio, this place is like a second home to me. Every single person who is still here, or has moved on from the studio has impacted my life in so many ways. Words can not express how grateful I am for all of my teachers and teammates, as I feel like I would be incomplete without meeting any of them. A teacher that has always held a special place in my heart is Harper - she goes to show just how much an adult can impact a kid’s life. She taught me so many things not only technically wise, but life lessons that I have held close to heart ever since she moved to chase her dreams (which I am so incredibly proud of her for)! Harper, Maddie K, Maddi M, Kylie K, Kylee, and Emily are all a few of the DSD teachers who have pushed me to my limits, as well as built up my self image. You all have been so supportive of many things that I have been through, and seeing how much you all care for me makes me believe in myself. I will save more words for them all at the recitals, but I do want each and every single teacher that I have had the past ten years to know that you have helped shape me into the person that I am today, and without your guidance or support I would not be the confident dancer that I am today. Dance has been my lifeline for so many reasons, and I strongly encourage everyone to keep on dancing and look at all of the positives that it adds to your life! Dance is whatever you make out of it, so let dance be what it means to you 💕
In the fall I will be attending St. Olaf College where I plan to major in Psychology and possibly double major in dance! I will also be involved in the Ole Tap Collective! I can’t wait to see what life will bring me moving forward, and I won’t be too far from my second home as I’ll be back to teach in the fall as well! I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to be back in the studio as a teacher, and see everyone continue to grow from a different perspective. DSD can’t get rid of me that easily!
🌟🪩SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🪩🌟
Abby Cloutier, we are so incredibly proud of you, and are in awe when we watch you command the stage with that incredible focus and presence of yours! You’re an incredible inspiration to many and we hope you never stop dancing! ❤️
I have been dancing for 15 years (5 of which were spent here at DSD!) and I can't even begin to describe how wonderful the community and the friendships I have built through this art form have been. When the studio in my hometown closed, I didn't think I would get the chance to dance ever again in a studio setting. DSD welcomed me with such open arms and hearts, I can never thank the students, staff, and Emily enough for believing in all of us and pushing us to our limits. Keep dancing everyone, I'll be cheering you on!
In the Fall I will be attending The University of Minnesota's College of Liberal arts where I plan to take many classes and figure out what path I want to take next in life.
🧸🦄Have you seen our adorable new limited edition DSD plushies? They are the perfect recital gift for your dancer! We are taking pre-orders now, and have a limited amount coming in at the end of April. Fill out the form to reserve yours today!
